Happy Thanksgiving | Giving Thanks | Lifestyle Photography

On my last post , I hadn't intended to draw it out to a whole back story but when I started to think about when & why we got our pup Guinness I realized I had much to be thankful for.

With that being already said, here's something to just put you in the Holiday Spirit!
Kruiz performed her very 1st Kinder recital!  Very cute, a bit chaotic with 75 kids trying to stay in sync but pure love for every child who put them selves out there!
Love you Kruiz!
I'm more than thankful to have you as my child- you are talented, smart, loving and so special!
We love you!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!!

Happy Birthday Guinness! | Southern California Lifestyle Photographer

So, I have been out of commission at least when it comes to blogging.  I'm in the midst of designing albums, adjusting to the schedule of a kindergarten child, and prepping for the holidays.  Plus for some reason (I think it's due to the time change and the allergens in the air), I have been really fatigued and my head feels hazy.  From what I hear, I'm not the only one who has been feeling like this lately.  So with that I took a break from blogging in hopes to lesson the amount of juggling I've been doing lately.

Today I woke up and realized, my boy Guinness just turned 8 three days ago; what I forgot?  I knew last week it was coming up and yet I still forgot!  See the HAZE?!

Guinness is my first baby.  I got him at time in my life when I couldn't see much of a future for me.  I had just got married and shortly after my wedding my body seemed to fail.
If you know me, you know I have Rheumatoid Arthritis & Fibromyalgia; both are debilitating diseases that attack my immune system causing pain and deformities of my joints.  I have had this for most of my life and lived normally, but in 2002 after my wedding it all came at me in full force and I quickly became crippled.  I couldn't walk; I couldn't button my clothes; my skin hurt so much I couldn't sleep with a blanket; my left hand turned in 90 degrees within 3 months as I watched and felt the bones twisting and deforming.
All of this was so difficult when it came to my state of mind and I quickly became severely depressed.

Shortly after I had surgery to repair my deformed hand and wrist, I watched a program about dogs healing.  It was about a lady who had fibromyalgia and the mere heat of a loved companion (her dog) helped heal or at least deal with her pain.
So Donovan & I went on a hunt through Petfinder.com and found "Gomez".  He was an 8 week old chihuahua.
We went to the Long Beach Farmer's Market and saw all the adorable pups from Heart & Hounds.  "Gomez" was so cute and small.  He had just overcome a case of mange, flawed like me but happy and lovable!
We took him home, named him Guinness Gomez and he became my first baby!

With Guinness and his soon after brother "Bassee",  I was on the road to having a life again.  I was forced to get out of bed despite the excruciating pain to take them for walks; it got my joints moving.  With their unconditional love they helped me out of a depression.
Dogs are truly amazing and I have to give thanks to mine for giving me my life back!

Through love, support and family I have been able to live my life again.  I still face challenges and have surgeries yearly but my life is productive & full of love from my boys, my husband, my daughter and the rest of family & friends.
With this blessing I am now able to pursue my passions.
I have accomplished more in my life than I could ever imagine and I owe it to my loved ones~ especially Guinness for getting me out of bed to walk another day!
I love you Guinness~ Happy Birthday!
... and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

A Year of Growth | My lil Ballerina | Long Beach Lifestyle Photography

I deem 2010 the year of growth!
There have been so many changes in my & my family's lives this year!
My business has grown and has built new friendships along the way.
My niece Everlee has learned to walk with a walker and braces.
3 of my couples have had babies this year.
My husband got a building he loves finally; he is a skilled nursing administrator and it's a very stressful position running a nursing home~ a successful nursing home.

And most important.....

Our daughter Kruiz has had the most growth and she amazes me daily!
She learned to read earlier this year and she reads appx 3 books a day now and she is only in Kindergarten.
She learned how to side breath in swim class and can swim the width of the pool.
She learned and mastered snorkeling during our Hawaii trip (which I need to blog some of those moments).
She learned math (addition and subtraction 1st grade level).
She learned how to ride her bike without training wheels (thanks daddy... mommy get anxiety).
She learned how to play "Monster Mash" (including 3 chords) on the piano while her daddy learned how to play it on the guitar.  Really they were too cute having a jam session of Monster Mash!
Now she is learning tap & ballet.
Her eyes and her spirit lit up when she went to her first class!   She was the most excited and eager I have ever seen!
She wants to do it all.
Mark Twain's poem really is the soul of my daughter!

Kruiz mommy is so proud of you and how much you impress me daily!
Keep on dancing & embracing life!

Halloween Happiness | Long Beach Lifestyle & Event Photographer

Wow this weekend was a busy one & I don't mean with work!
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays & it has proven to be my daughter's as well.
This year Halloween wasn't just for one night; it seemed like it may not end at all (kind of like the movie Ground Hog Day).
Friday I wake up to get my daughter ready for school.  It's going to be a long one because I volunteered the whole day to help get the kids ready for their Halloween Parade.
Her school has a few restrictions which now I am grateful for.  The make-up has to be minimal because they only have very little time to get ready before the festivities.  At first I was bummed because her costume kind of required the make-up, but after doing her entire make-up later that evening I realized they saved me from starting something that I could not have finished in time.

The day was full of excitement amongst ALL the kids; they all looked so cute!

After a day of excitement at school, Kruiz and I return home for yet another Halloween festivity that evening.  I began to work on her make-up.  Again, thankful I did not attempt this during school because it took an hour to do! Why?  Can you imagine a 5 year old having make-up applied?  I love her so but it was quite frustrating working on her face while she moaned, whimpered and moved every nano-second.
Once I finished, she looked in the mirror and her smile made it worth all the frustration!
She LOVED IT!

On the night of Halloween (her 3rd time to get dressed up this Halloween) I did her make-up and MINE... oh what fun!
What really thrills me is that Kruiz ALWAYS wants to be different and she gets into the scary part of the holiday!  Her favorite movie of all time is Practical Magic (last year she went as Jillian the witch).
This year she wanted to be a Gothic Ragdoll- luv it!
So I went as Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas so we could match!

The Day of Halloween, we make our way to 2nd street!  This year prove to be more overwhelming with all the crowds.  Mom's were running over Kruiz with strollers.  Everyone seemed to be pushing and shoving their way through without concern of others' children.
Justin Rudd, let's block the street off next year, please?

The picture below:
Jerry my friend said to put Kruiz in front of the Children's Place window.
How cute is that?
She's the Goth version!

The kids had such a great time!  Goodies and treating~ what fun!!!!  I look forward to every Halloween with you Kruiz!
 I love you!

Whew~  What fun and now I've linked it up with the Sits Girls to share with everyone!
