Day 1 of our Santa Barbara Trip | Anniversary Photography KrashingMotions

My husband and I just celebrated our 7th wedding Anniversary!
I can't believe it has been that long already! There have been so much change in our lives for the better of course; number one being our daughter, then our dogs, our life in Long Beach, the friends we've made, my love and now business of photography. We have endured hard times as well and it is those challenges in life that make our love and devotion for each other stronger!!!
We were engaged 8 years ago on summer solstice as well and it become almost an annual tradition to visit where he proposed ( Santa Ynez) and where we married (Santa Barbara). Last year we visited our chapel, the El Presidio, in Santa Barbara and made our rounds to the Mission and to the Annual Summer Solstice Parade. This year we headed straight up to the vineyards to visit our 2 favorite wineries- Sunstone (where he proposed) and Kalyra. Plus we made it to our stomping grounds of Brophy Bros and the Summer Solstice Parade!!!
Kalyra was our 1st stop. We have been visiting here since it was a quaint shack before it became big from the movie Sideways! The proprietors/brothers are down to earth guys from Australia. Mike Brown is the owner and winemaker; he has worked at some of my favorite wineries such as Buttonwood Farms & Zaca Mesa. We haven't seen them in a while but I know they make appearances every so often.

My two staples- wine & my iPhone...hee, hee
This is Macy ( I think) the watchdog of Kalyra winery; she is such a sweetie with wise eyes and stinky breath!

Sunstone Vineyard- I just love the details of this place. It's only 8-9 years old and it holds a natural rustic look! We fell in love with this place the 1st time we visited 8 years ago June 21st- summer solstice. Little did I know this would be the place where the beginning of our lives together would begin....
These are the steps where he actually popped the question (8 years ago)! I remember him buying a bottle of Viognier and moving from a table outside to a short walk here to these steps. He sat me down and said he wanted to use our new video camera- we still have that same one from 8 years ago... too bad we have never looked at a single video from it. As he set up the tripod and camera I was swatting bees away and pleading to move somewhere else. I almost pleaded myself out of a wedding proposal! Luckily he is just as stubborn as I and he convinced me wait until we could enjoy one glass of wine together. He approached me and tried to get on his knee but the stones were hurting him so he asked for a folded brochure then placed it under his knee. I told him to just sit next to me. He joked saying "Look I'm on my knee...". We chuckled then he got a bit teary-eyed and started to pronounce his love and devotion and list the reasons why he loved me and then the big one "Will you marry me?" ! I said "Are you kidding? this isn't funny." Well it was legit and I said yes!!!! Wow- I just relived it all over again in my head while writing this. The funny thing is, he didn't propose as he had planned. Originally he had a note in his pocket that was attached to a stick meant to look like a white flag and then he was going to say " I surrender". The nerves must have gotten to him, but he told me of his original plan right after- funny man. Now the picture of this quaint ranch motel is where we stayed shortly after finishing out bottle of viognier and celebrating our engagement at the vineyard. Back then we were scraping to stay at the Carpenteria Beach campsite for this weekend getaway. We knew we shouldn't drive back to Carpenteria from Santa Ynez after having some vino plus we were so excited...we wanted to splurge and get a place to stay. So we came across this Red Barn Motel that had white picket fences, roses and a dirt trail. We asked how much, the lady said $60 for one night...out of our price range- too bad we thought. We told her we just got engaged and that we just couldn't afford it, so sorry. As we walked out the door, she yells how about $30? Crazy we worked this lady down to $30 dollar stay! Now a days I try to work our stays down to $200 at any other hotel. So now we were set...we could enjoy some more wine (which cost nearly the same as the motel) and call our family & friends to give them the news. Oh I wish I had pics of the inside- it was hilarious! The decor was retro disco, a complete opposite from the exterior barn style! BTW- back then when we made calls we were charged roaming fees, so when we received our next bill it was a fabulous $350. At least we saved money on the motel!

Santa Clarita Engagement| Mel & Kam- eSession #3

This is Mel & Kam- Mel is the bride to be and Kam is the soon-to-be-groom (I love names that can be used for either a female or male, hence why we named our daughter Kruiz).
This couple was the 3rd from our e-Session that was hosted by Jen O'Sullivan! Mel & Kam also brought there beloved & playful dog...Bubba(oh my I hope that's what his name was). They were a no holds bar kind of
couple who were willing to do what ever necessary to capture the best shots- they ROCK!!!!
One thing you might be able to tell as that no only is each couple unique in their own way but so were their shoots and the post-processing. When I
edit each of my clients photos, I do so from the feeling & vision I get from each shot, each person, each session. One technique or style may feel right for one person but not the next. With this couple I felt they had a bold, hot & classic feel, so I had it reflect in the processing as well. If you look at
Sarah & Sean's session, they came as across as organic & fresh. Sure I may
duplicate some of my past edits, but each shot is created from what I feel when I look at it. Why do I mention this...well I just want each potential client to know when you shoot with me you are going to get something unique & artistic with a bit of me but much of YOU!!!!

MY New Website- http://krashingmotions.info

I'm so excited, my new website is up and running. I am so loving the progress of it so far. It's still a work in progress but I should have it complete by the end of the week!!!! I have to thank BluDomain for their awesome and affordable websites! My last site I created 2.5 years ago on my iMac. It was fine and worked for getting my business started but I think I outgrew it; I started to look at it and think how juvenile it looked. I am so pleased with my new http://KrashingMotions.info
This site is more organized and it offers a prettier display of shopping. My clients can now not only purchase sessions via online (like before), but they will be able to purchase products like canvas wraps, books, dvd slideshows, and a page to their online proofs!
Convenience, professionalism and beauty all wrapped into one fabulous site! Let me know what you think and if you need a site I suggest checking out BluDomain!

Santa Clarita Engagment| e-Workshop- part 2 Sarah and Sean

So here's couple #2 from Jen O'Sullivan's e-Workshop- Sarah & Sean! They are so cute and up for anything; actually all 4 couples were up for anything! They have this adorable, flirty, young love about them. So I asked them to pretend to sip out of a fountain together; it reminded me of young flirtation! You can tell these 2 are deeply in love with each other the way they flirt, kiss and look into each other's eyes!
Congrats Sarah & Sean on your engagement!!!!!

E-Workshop- Part 1 | eSession | Santa Clarita Engagement Photographer

Sunday I attended Jen O'Sullivan's Engagement workshop in Santa Clarita. We're never as good as we could be...so all moments I can learn from someone else I relish! I'm so glad I went; she assisted me on 4 techniques that I have been trying on my own and she was able to make them come to fruition!
What a great day and workshop. It was a small class of 4 photogs and we each got our own couple to shoot. Actually we each 4 couples- wow what fun! It was supposed to be appx 20 minutes intervals with each couple. My first couple was John & Debbie from Lakewood! They too made the not so close but pretty easy trip to Santa Clarita. John & Debbie are a very sweet marrying this November! I wish I could have shot them more but my 20 minutes with was cut just a tad short; I think we actually only shot for 10. So here is part 1 John & Debbie- CONGRATULATIONS! ... 3 more to come

Bears,bears,bears...Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays!!!! | Downtown Disney Photographer | KrashingMotions

My niece Aubree FINALLY was able to have her birthday party. This absolute sweetheart had to have her birthday party postponed twice and planned on a whim for the 3rd successful time; she was a TROOPER!!!!
Here's the scoop- my other niece (Aubree's baby sister) has spina bifida which apparently comes with a life of complications! Everlee (Aubree's sister) was hospitalized for her 7th brain surgery due to shunt complications yet again, but this time she endured a slue of added challenges! After more than a 2 week stay Everlee came home and is still to this day...KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!
Aubree at this time was the best 3 year old dealing with the lack of mommy, daddy, and sissy around. She had plenty of sleep-overs with much of her
family; in her eyes it was a party everywhere she went, despite her longing
for her immediate family.
Her birthday actually was at the end of April and we finally had the "real" party May 15th at "Build a Bear".
This party was well worth the wait! Bears everywhere and every child loving every moment!!!!
BTW... expect another one next year, because I'm taking this idea and running with it as well!
So the waiting continues because it is now 18 days since her birthday
to post this... so sorry Aubree for yet another wait!
I love you tons and hope you loved your fabulous party; I know we all did!!!!!!
OK so now for the 2nd part of the story... see these 4 adorable lil ones?! 3 of them just celebrated their B-days within 4 weeks of each other...actually 6 since Aubree's was set back. I am exhausted...no more! Oh wait we're not done yet, last week we celebrated w/ my Bro-in-law Scott for his 29th, next week will be my sister Karlee's, then my nephew Donovan, then my brother Wesley, then my sister Kendee... awe breathe for one month and it starts all over again with my dad and the rest of my 35+ members of family and a handful of best friends included...oh wait they all just had babies too....does it ever end?!!!! Seriously I have attended within 8 weeks 8 birthdays! I love you all...can we just have one BIG party for the adults and say we celebrated all of our B-days?! ...that would save so much time!!!
Oh BTW in December I am forfeiting my own B-day party given that it will be my husband's 40th 12 day later, plus 5 more family members' b-days oh and let's not forget Christmas! But I will be happy to accept bottles of wine as gifts sent to my door instead....hee,hee..
