The Cannery Engagement | Britney & Craig | Newport Beach Photographer

Once again, can I say how much I love engagement photos shoots?! I love this time in a couples' life; they are so playful, so happy, so enamored with each other! Britney & Craig have been together for over 6 years and were engaged a year ago. Given the length of their commitment you might think the honeymoon would be over, but when I met this couple it was apparent that the honeymoon was just beginning! What an adorable & fun couple. Craig was such a supportive fiancee humoring his soon-to-be bride! Britney has the best laugh, especially when caught on camera & Craig knew it! We started our session at The Cannery in Newport Beach. What a fabulous place to shoot; this restaurant is quenched with style! Funny thing... I need to sidetrack the story for a second. First, I arrive to the Cannery and see a slew of photogs nearby with their mac daddy lenses that ultra zoom like the paparazzi's. I'm thinking to myself, "What's going on here? Is my couple famous or something?" So I park, grab some gear and walk in. I have called The Cannery at least 3 times discussing the details and the day I would be shooting my couple, but "Do-Do Brain" me doesn't remember to bring the info of the person I spoke with. I was assured it was no problem, until I walk in and I'm almost shooed away! The hostess was like, "I'm not sure what you are talking about and no one else knows either." Now me, "OK, so who do I need to speak with to make sure this happens?" Luckily after a few minutes of worrying if we could do this (and we needed to this here- because this is where Britney & Craig had their 1st date!) another hostess comes up and states "she's legit, I spoke with her a few days ago!" "Whew", I say, "what's going on?" "Oh everyone is just worried because we have some celebrity VIP's here and the paparazzi is swarming." Again I think, is my couple famous? Apparently not, because the hostess says I'm only allowed to shoot upstairs away from the VIP's. OK, that's fine. I go order some wine for my couple and one for me too, to help us all relax and start our shoot. I ask the bartender "So who are the VIP's I'm not allowed to bring my camera around?" ... Are you ready for this? .... A-Rod & Kate Hudson who I guess are now engaged...wish I could have thrown them my card! I'm so out of it, I didn't even know they were dating! Ok, that's my super long sidetrack story. So now back to my couple and their fabulous session! We are at The Cannery and now finally have full reign to shoot about because our VIP's have left. We move outside; what an amazing perfect day for this couple to be captured! The sky was blue with perky, white clouds here and there. The air was warm and comfortable. We were all enjoying the moment; the walk on the docks, the fresh air, the views! Next, we head over to the Newport Pier and start shooting in front of the Blue Beet. This place holds so many memories- my old stomping grounds of NPB. I love brick walls and Britney came out with the perfect color green to compliment the red walls and yellow umbrellas- I love bright, vivid colors; I like to call this "The Pop Moment" (when all the colors just POP). Now we're running a tad low on time, because they both have plans in Pasadena. Britney need to meet with a pup trainer so their lil one stops marking and Craig...well I'm not sure what Craig had planned, but I could tell he was a bit worried on time; his phone kept ringing and he was checking the time here and there half way through our shoot. So now, I'm feeling a bit nervous- here's me in my head... "are we going to get enough shots? Are we going to get that one awesome shot? Oh no, we won't get our sunset shot? We gotta get to the beach still. Ok if we get it to the beach, then at least we have that. Awe man, I hope I don't forget anything?" (My brain goes a mile a minute, hence why I forget words when I speak). We continue to shoot on the street then rush over to the beach with my nerves a bit whacked from what's going on in my head. Then we take off our shoes and step onto the sand, my brain and feet go "AWEEEEE"! I forgot how soft the sand is Newport; I live nearby the beach in Long Beach and I love it, but the sand just feels different. Newport sand is just sweetly soft- LUV IT! What a way to finish the day!!!!! Thanks Britney & Craig. I wish you both the best! britney & craig britney & craig britney & craig britney & craig britney & craig britney & craig britney & craig britney & craig- eSession britney & craig-eSession britney & craig- edited15 britney & craig- eSession britney & craig britney & craig britney & craig britney & craig- edited6
